Five elixirs. Five intentions. Know what you drink.
Euphoria Elixir
A sharp lift. A warm wave. You float.
Yield · 500 ml syrup · about 10 servings
Ingredients
Method
Steep saffron threads in 50 ml of warm water (60°C / 140°F) for 20 minutes. The water will turn deep gold — that's the active crocin releasing.
Combine remaining 250 ml of water with sugar in a saucepan. Heat over medium, stirring until dissolved. Do not boil.
Add lemon zest and vanilla. Simmer on low for 5 minutes, then remove from heat.
Let cool to 50°C / 120°F. Whisk in mucuna and rhodiola powders until blended. Never boil after adding.
Pour in the saffron infusion, threads and all. Stir well.
Strain through a fine sieve. Pour into a dark glass bottle. Keeps refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
To Serve
50 ml syrup · juice of ½ lemon · 150 ml sparkling water. Garnish with saffron threads.
Lunar Rhythm
Soft power. Bloom. Balance from within.
Yield · 500 ml syrup · about 10 servings
Ingredients
Method
Bring water to a gentle simmer. Add vitex berries and fennel seeds first — they need the most time. Simmer for 10 minutes.
Add red clover, hops, and raspberry leaf. Reduce to lowest heat, cover, steep for 15 minutes.
Remove from heat. Add lavender, cover, and let sit for 20 minutes. High heat kills the aroma.
Strain well. Cool to 40°C / 105°F — warm but not hot.
Stir in honey and citric acid until dissolved. Honey must never exceed 45°C / 113°F.
Pour into a dark glass bottle. Keeps refrigerated for up to 10 days.
To Serve
50 ml syrup · juice of ½ lime · 150 ml sparkling water. Top with a dried lavender sprig.
The Deep Descent
The border dissolves. You sink slowly down.
Yield · 500 ml syrup · about 10 servings
Ingredients
Method
Cover valerian root with cold water and bring slowly to a boil. Simmer 10 minutes. The earthy smell is completely normal.
Add ginger and passionflower. Simmer covered for another 10 minutes.
Remove from heat. Add lemon balm and lime zest. Cover and steep for 15 minutes.
Strain. Stir sugar into the hot liquid until dissolved.
Cool to room temperature. Add lime juice and valerian tincture. Stir.
Pour into a dark glass bottle. Keeps refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
To Serve
50 ml syrup · juice of ½ lime · 150 ml still or lightly sparkling water. Drink 30–60 min before sleep.
Lucid Curse
Predator calm. Razor thoughts. Body like earth.
Yield · 500 ml syrup · about 10 servings
Ingredients
Method
Mix kava powder with coconut milk and 50 ml warm water (50°C / 120°F). Let sit 10 minutes — kavalactones are fat-soluble, the milk unlocks them.
Dissolve sugar in remaining water over medium heat. Add lemon zest and cardamom. Simmer 5 minutes. Do not boil.
Remove from heat. Cool to 50°C / 120°F. Whisk in ashwagandha, St. John's Wort, and black pepper.
Add the kava-coconut mixture. Mix thoroughly.
Strain through a fine sieve lined with cheesecloth — kava turns the liquid cloudy.
Pour into a dark bottle. Shake before each use. Keeps refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
To Serve
50 ml syrup · juice of ½ lemon · 150 ml sparkling water · a pinch of black pepper on top.
Immunity Boost
Ancient armour. Deep roots. Your body remembers.
Yield · 500 ml syrup · about 10 servings
Ingredients
Method
Combine elderberries, rosehips, echinacea root, ginger, cinnamon, and cloves with water in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 25–30 minutes, until the liquid reduces by about a third. The colour deepens to dark ruby.
Remove from heat. Add lemon zest. Cover and steep for 15 minutes.
Strain through a fine sieve, pressing the berries gently to extract all the juice. Discard the solids.
Let cool to 40°C / 105°F. Stir in honey and lemon juice until fully dissolved. Never heat honey above 45°C.
Pour into a dark glass bottle. Keeps refrigerated for up to 3 weeks. The syrup will thicken slightly — that's the elderberry pectin.
To Serve
50 ml syrup · juice of ½ lemon · 150 ml sparkling water · optional: a thin slice of fresh ginger. Also lovely as a warm tea — just add hot water instead.
